help!! data recovery needed

i seriously need some geek help.

is there anyone on my friend list who does data recovery?
or harddrive surgery?

here's the story...

i had a computer with an 80g drive. dave got me a new system with a 40g drive.
i was a complete and total idiot and didn't do backups (yes yes i know). we networked the old system and new one..and i transferred about 35gigs of stuff onto the new drive.

once it transferred and looked fine. dave reformatted my old 80g drive and put win xp on it.
then popped the 80g in the new system.

that night it seemed to be working ok except for a write error that kept popping up.
all my files were there.

i shut down that night and went to bed.

the next day dave came home to work out the bugs and it wouldn't boot up.
then when it finally booted...it saw no drive.

so we took both drives in to a data recovery guy.

the 80gig that was reformatted has most of the files on it...although alot seem to be corrupted now.

the new 40g drive itself is shot. it needs to have the system board replaced (or something like that). i am hoping all the files are still on it but because the drive is fucked we can't get them.

the guy wanted alot more than we can afford. :(

so.....is there anyone that can help me?
we can pay some....of course. over time is better if anyone is willing to do that.
