So September is here and the ACT Walk for Life is just around the corner on the 17th. I'm doing it again this year so if you have a few extra dollars in your pocket that you'd like to donate by all means visit my sponsor page at

For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about The Walk for Life is an annual fund raising event that's sponsored by the AIDS Committee of Toronto. Money raised by participants goes towards various programs and initiatives from ACT, all of which are designed to provide support, HIV prevention and education services for people living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS. Just to give you an idea of how HIV/AIDS affects us, I've copied a few facts from the AIDS Walk for Life Website at http://www.aidswalktoronto.org/home.html
"AIDS is just as much of a threat as it ever was. That is the reason for AIDS Walk for Life and it is a reality that the AIDS Committee of Toronto addresses daily. The facts speak for themselves:
Approximately 60,000 people in Canada are living with HIV/AIDS and it is estimated that another 20,000 are infected with HIV but do not know it.
Infections among women and youth have risen dramatically in recent years
Toronto accounted for 65% of new HIV infection in Ontario last year
The new HIV drugs don’t work for everyone
AIDS is still fatal. There is no cure and no vaccine. Prevention is still the only defence against HIV transmission."
As many of you know ACT is a group that I hold very close to my heart and who I support very strongly. I hope that you agree that it's a very important organization and that you'd like to support my efforts in the Walk.
Thanks very much,
rik
